Tarleton State Scales Residency Program

Tarleton State University is scaling their Teacher Residency Program, a program that enables candidates to spend a full year in their clinical experience developing and practicing instructional skills. Last week, Tarleton hosted an information session for 42 Teacher Residents who will teach in Granbury, Huckabay, and Stephenville Independent School Districts.

The excitement of current residents who shared their experiences was tangible in this hybrid meeting in which future Tarleton Teacher Residents attended in person and via Zoom.

Cooperating Teachers from this past year’s cohort of year-long residents also shared the impact mentoring a Tarleton Teacher Resident has had on their K-12 students.

Tarleton State University remains committed to preparing high-quality teacher candidates who are ready to teach each student on day one!  Dr. Chris Sloan, Assistant Dean of the College of Education, shared, "In my over 35 years of public service and administrative leadership, I have never been this excited about the magnitude of positive change that can be achieved by a singular program transformation the year-long teacher residency brings."
