Max Chang
Max is a Regional Transformation Support Specialist. In this role, he primarily serves the Texas Mentorship Training initiative, partnering with the Texas Education Agency in the design and delivery of cohesive training for mentoring educators across Texas schools. He also works alongside university leadership teams and their school district partners to support the work of transforming teacher preparation programs, which includes virtual and on-the-ground support, co-planning and facilitating professional development, and progress monitoring transformation plans to make sure goals are met.
Prior to US PREP, Max served as a Senior Manager in the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality at the New York City Department of Education. In this role, he built robust partnerships with higher education institutions, providing convening opportunities and technical assistance to enhance the preparation of aspiring teachers for the city’s public schools. Previous to the NYCDOE, Max served as the Program Director at Public Allies New York, and led the organization’s strategy around partnerships, program quality, compliance, and the design and implementation of its year-long leadership training program. Max brings over 20 years of experience in youth development, community leadership, and organizational development, and in that time has reinforced his passion for strengthening community and education systems to empower young people.
Max currently lives in Los Angeles, California, spending time with his extended family, partner, and friends. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and eating delicious food.
